Alister given Racing Opportunity
Jun 22, 2005
“For some time I have been interested in the challenge of circuit racing and after turning in some competitive lap times at Snetterton last year testing RJN’s Nissan I have been waiting for an opportunity to join the racing fraternity
I received a telephone call from RJN Team Principle Bob Neville on Monday asking if I would be interested in sharing the Nissan 350Z with Michael Bentwood in the British GT race at Castle Combe this weekend (25th & 26th June) after regular driver Ally McKever had to stand down.
My only experience at Castle Combe has been when I have appeared at the Rally Day. I’ve only done two races driving a VW Polo G40 in 1992 and a TVR Tuscan in 1996. I will not be expecting miracles and will have to rely on Michael a fair bit. I do not want to embarrass myself and will be hoping for a consistent race and points in the championship.
If all goes well I hope that this could lead to further outings in British GT and long distance events like 24 Hours of Spa in July,” said Alister McRae.
