Scottish rally driver Alister McRae will contest the Rally of Lithgow in New South Wales, Australia next month. McRae will drive a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII at the gravel rally, with former Australian co-driver champion Dale Moscat will call the notes.

The event will be McRae’s first non-World Rally Championship gravel rally in Australia, and his first gravel event in the nation since the 2004 Telstra Rally Australia in Perth, Western Australia. McRae, who is currently driving a factory Mazda in Targa Tasmania, currently resides on the west coast of Australia but is looking forward to the east coast rally.
“I have been very keen to drive some of the east coast gravel roads,” McRae told the Lithgow Mercury. “The Rally of Lithgow had been recommended to me by several people so when the opportunity came up I jumped at it.”
The Lithgow event, held in the Hampton-Jenolan State Forest, is the opening round of the New South Wales State Rally Championship.
Moscat, who formerly called the notes for three time Australian Rally Champion Cody Crocker, has also co-driven for Natalie Barratt at the Rally of New Zealand and spent time in the Chinese Rally Championship.
